The Ottawa Network (TON)’s 3 x 10 panel is a monthly event focussed on entrepreneurial aspects of the technology community. Each panel features 3 speakers presenting for 10 minutes each.

This month’s speakers:

Brad Stewart - CEO and President, Adjoy
Adjoy is a new fundraising tool that directs online advertising dollars to charitable organizations. By combining the brand building power of video and corporate social responsibility, Adjoy helps everybody help each other. A donation will be made to a specified charity every time someone watches a video using the Adjoy platform, leaving everybody feeling the Joy!  Adjoy is founded on the premise that advertising can be a first-class citizen in the online world.  They build web interfaces that offer the highest possible value to end-users and advertisers, and are specialists in powerful back-end video solutions on both social networks and general web frameworks.

Brad Stewart is an entrepreneur with a lifelong track record in social responsibility.  He has an MA in Social Philosophy and Ethics (University of Calgary), and has sat as an elected board member of the Ontario Public Interest Research Group.  His business background includes: Loblaw’s Co. Ltd. (finance department); sole proprietorship in wine sales/import (founder, The Naked Grape); and NPO service delivery (founder/director, Ethica International Corp.).  In his spare time he boxes, surfs and plays hockey.

Mark Northcott - CTO, Adjoy
Mark Northcott is a technology enthusiast and has made a career of being on the bleeding edge of web development. Having completed both a Bachelor and Master degree at Carleton University, his professional experience includes positions at Corel Corporation, Databeacon (now owned by IBM), the National Research Council and Non~Linear Creations Inc. As the Head of Research and Development at Non~Linear Creations, Mark focused on finding ways to integrate social media into the enterprise, as well as how to improve scalability and performance in online applications. In order to maintain a healthy work-life balance, Mark engages in various recreational activities including golf and boxing.

John Shannon - Founder and CTO, Bill Me Later
John Shannon is an executive, angel investor, advisor and coach to many of Ottawa’s high tech startup companies.  He was the original founder and CTO of Bill Me Later, which eBay acquired in 2008 for a billion dollars.  He has also been a key member of a handful of other local startups, who together have attracted tens of millions of dollars in VC, angel and government-sponsored capital.  John is a business development specialist, with considerable experience in financial and business architectures for early-stage high tech companies.  He is an engaging light-hearted speaker and enjoys sharing insights from a uniquely creative perspective.
